Meet the Team

  • Dr Nicole Jenkins, PhD

    FOUNDER & CEO

Nicole Jenkins is a Senior Research Officer at the Florey Institute of Neuroscience and Mental Health. Her research has focused on to the biology of ageing with a particular emphasis on disturbed iron homeostasis. She has direct experience in the diagnosis and health management of iron disorders, both at the iron deficiency and iron overload ends of the spectrum.

  • Dr David Simpson, PhD

    FOUNDER & CTO

David Simpson is an Associate Professor at the University of Melbourne, leader of the Quantum Biosensing group at the School of Physics, and a leader in diamond-based quantum sensing technology for biological applications. He has commercialised diamond-based technology as part of Quantum Communications Australia. His research and vision over the past 5 years has led to the development of the diamond technology on which FeBI is built.

  • Dr Gawain McColl

    FOUNDER & CSO

Gawain McColl is an Associate Professor with a joint appointment at the University of Melbourne and the Florey as Head of the Molecular Gerontology laboratory. He has extensive experience in the study of metalloproteomics and iron homeostasis in biological systems, with a particular focus on ferritin.

  • Dr Liam Hall, PhD

    FOUNDER & CSIRO QUANTUM LEAD

Liam Hall is Science Leader in Quantum Biotechnology and a Principal Research Scientist in Manufacturing at CSIRO. He is a pioneer of magnetic resonance-based quantum sensing techniques. He has a decade of experience in quantum metrology and systems analysis and has conceived several new quantum measurement protocols, including that utilised by the FeBI technology.

  • Dr Andrew Watt, PhD

    CCO

Andrew Watt is an experienced project lead and stakeholder manager with a strong trackrecord in managing large multidisciplinary teams. He has a passion for communicating complex ideas to a wide audience and has worked to train researchers from around the world in effective communication techniques.
